Rev. Dr. Janice Williams Hodges is the current pastor of Mars Hill Presbyterian church. She is the former associate minister of Friendship Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as leader of the FCBC Drama Ministry, Founder and CEO of Sunshine Drama Ministries, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Enoch Holloway, Sr. in Wake Forest, NC., where she resided with her high school sweetheart and husband, Tom, of almost 40 years. They are blessed with two beautiful children, a daughter, Danielle, a son, Marcus, and five lovely grandchildren. They enjoy working in the community and supporting young people.
Pastor Hodges grew up in Hope Mills, North Carolina, as a member of Mars Hills Presbyterian Church most of her life. She graduated from South View Senior High, in Hope Mills, NC, where she was a cheerleader and her husband, Tom, played football. She was active as a youth in her church and became a youth deacon at 12. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served as representative of the Synod of the Piedmont at 16, traveling the south eastern United States speaking and representing youth. She was the recipient of an academic scholarship sponsored by the United Presbyterian Churches of Synod of the Piedmont, USA.
She is a lifelong educator. She pursued an education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC where she studied English Literature, N.C. State University where she studied English Secondary Education in Raleigh, NC, UNC-Chapel Hill where she pursued a Master of Science in Library Science and Information Technology, rounding out her studies with both a Master Degree in Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She enjoys spending time with family, playing Candy Crush and trivia games. Her favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33- “But first, seek the Kingdom of heaven and all of its righteousness and everything else will be given unto you.
